The mission of PAIS is to support its member schools as they help to build each child's intellectual, ethical, aesthetic and physical foundation for a lifetime of learning. To this end, PAIS also respects and supports the profession of teaching, and encourages school programs dedicated to educating the whole child.
The Palmetto Association of Independent Schools, Incorporated (PAIS) is a voluntary, non-profit organization founded in 1978 to foster the freedom of member schools to practice their own philosophy of education and to maintain and improve the educational commitment of member schools through cooperative endeavors.
PAIS schools include both coed and single sex schools, from preschool through high school; day and boarding schools; secular and faith-based schools. Member schools admit students of any race, color, religion, national and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available at our schools.
PAIS serves as a link for South Carolina's independent schools to regional and national independent school associations like SAIS and NAIS. Our schools observe the highest standards for student admissions and achievement, academic instruction, flexible and dynamic curriculum, and faculty selection and retention.
